January passed so quickly!
My friend visited us in the middle of the month. Unfortunately, she wasn’t feeling well when she arrived, so I took her to a walk-in clinic to get some antibiotics. Thankfully, they worked, and she recovered within a week.
During her stay, we talked about many things and realized we both remembered Ikkyu-San 一休さん, a famous Japanese cartoon from a long time ago.

We decided to watch a little of it, and I still found it interesting. The theme song was also quite nice—it felt nostalgic yet relevant even today.

I think the phrase “Don’t worry.” is a great way to stop overthinking.
For the last four days of her visit, she felt much better. We went shopping and took a walk along the beach in West Vancouver. It was a beautiful day, and the ocean was so clear. In the evening, we played at a park in North Vancouver. There were no kids around, fewer lights, and even some adults playing. It reminded me how joyful it is to reconnect with our inner child.
Having a guest sometimes brings a fresh energy into the house. Staying in the same routine can make us resistant to change, but visitors help shift that energy.
Something unexpected happened, too—when my friend took a shower, she accidentally touched the bathroom wall, and we realized it was damp. Since our apartment is quite old, our bathroom ended up getting repaired, and now we have new tiles. I’m really happy about that!
I also noticed how often people in Canada say, “It’s all good.” It’s such a common phrase!
